Quiet day across the feeds — here are the highlights. GeoCurrents dug into Colombia's marketed "deserts," checking the tourism-brochure claim against actual precipitation data and finding only the Guajira Peninsula clears the threshold for true desert climate. The rest of the window was mostly silent, aside from Revolutionary GIS flagging two open datasets worth knowing about: GRID3's settlement extents, a mapping resource widely used in African development and humanitarian work, and the UK's Price Paid Data, HM Land Registry's record of every property sale in England and Wales.
Why this matters: Practical open-data pointers are exactly what the feeds under-serve relative to product news and funding rounds. Two usable data resources surfacing on a slow weekend is a reminder that curation, not just commentary, is part of what makes a feed worth following.
