Quiet Day Across the Feeds

Quiet day across the feeds. Here are the highlights.

Two acquisitions land on the same day

Earth Imaging Journal ran Hexagon's agreement to acquire geotechnical software provider Rocscience from TA Associates and its founders, and Intermap's completed purchase of PCI Geomatics. Intermap says the deal doubles its recurring revenue and pulls PCI's analytics into distributed edge processing and microservices.

Why this matters: Consolidation keeps rolling. Hexagon is pairing monitoring with engineering simulation, a rare move toward commercial verticals like mining and civil work. Intermap is a small player buying legacy remote sensing software to get scale and recurring revenue.

Cercana Executive Briefing — Week of October 3–October 9, 2026 — Cercana Systems LLC The weekly executive survey leads with new GSA terms for large language models sold through federal purchasing vehicles, effective October 19. The government keeps ownership of its data and anything fine-tuned on it. That matters to anyone selling AI-enabled location products to agencies. → Cercana Executive Briefing — Week of October 3–October 9, 2026

3. Intermap Completes Acquisition of PCI Geomatics — Earth Imaging Journal: Remote Sensing, Satellite Images, Satellite Imagery The release spells out the strategic logic, with PCI's analytics moving into edge processing and microservices. It's a clear read on how a smaller vendor is trying to scale through acquisition. → Intermap Completes Acquisition of PCI Geomatics

4. Hexagon to acquire Rocscience, closing the loop between real-world monitoring and advanced simulation — Earth Imaging Journal: Remote Sensing, Satellite Images, Satellite Imagery Hexagon wants to connect field monitoring to geotechnical simulation. It's one of the few items today aimed at an engineering buyer rather than the geospatial community itself. → Hexagon to acquire Rocscience, closing the loop between real-world monitoring and advanced simulation
